Ideal Belle and Zac Butcher returning to the Alexandra Park winner’s enclosure.
Caduceus Club trophy safely tucked away, now bring on Venus Serena and the two big 3-year-old Group One pacing features at Addington Raceway on May 10 and 16.
That’s what lies ahead for the North Island’s top ranked ‘Harness Jewels’ 3-year-old filly after she dealt to her 11 opponents in tonight’s $15,000 Caduceus Club C2/C3 mobile at Alexandra Park tonight.
The talented daughter of American Ideal and Zac Butcher led from the 1900m and from that point simply ran her opposition into the ground.
“She felt really nice tonight. To go 2:41 on a slightly wet track is a hell of a performance. She’s back where she needs to be and with a draw and run she can push ‘Venus’ down south,” Butcher said.
‘Venus’ is the multiple Group One winning and top ranked 3-year-old filly, Venus Serena. She will start a warm favourite in next month’s $140,000 Nevele R Fillies Final and the $125,000 Canterbury Breeders New Zealand Oaks.
But after tonight’s run Butcher believes the Barry Purdon trained Ideal Belle can give her a run for her money.
“If she feels anything like she did tonight then she will give her a fright alright. She was travelling like a machine tonight. The more they tried to attack her the more she gave. Nothing was going to get past her,” Butcher said.
Ideal Belle notched up her fifth win in 14 starts tonight, stopping the clock in a slick 2:41:19. Her winning mile rate for the 2200m mobile was 1:57.9. Last 800m and 400m in 57.3 and 28.6
She won by a length and a head from The Bucket List (Phil Butcher) and favourite Aldo Rossi (Blair Orange).
It was a popular win. Most of the 50-strong Auckland Trotting Club 2012 Syndicate were on-course to see their bay win.
“That was awesome! She’s the best filly we have had in 16 years of ATC Syndicates. We are really looking forward to Christchurch,” said Syndicate manager, Rob Carr.
Ideal Belle is in her debut season as a 3yo filly. She set a 3yo fillies, as well as an All-comers NZ Record of 2:00.4 (mile rate: 1:54) for 1700m in winning a NZ Sires Stakes Heat back in December at Alexandra Park.
Ideal Belle has also won a heat of the Nevele R Fillies Series. She was bred by Jay and Wayne Abernethy.
For the record, the phenomenon continues with Auckland Trotting Club Syndicates, now having the amazing record since their inception in 1998 of 183 wins, 143 seconds, 139 thirds and stake earnings and bonuses of $5,561,430.
It has spent $1,246,500 at the Yearling Sales and now turned over in excess of $12,000,000 in the industry.
Carr said he was keen to hear from anyone who wanted to join the ATC Trot 2016 Syndicate, which would be formed shortly.
