Jay Abernethy wins Stable Shout

08 August 2017
Jay Abernethy has won the first HRNZ Owners Sub- Committee Stable Shout.
Jay recieved two seperate nominations for his excellent communication with his owners.
He was nominated by Andy and Kim Thomson and Allan Poy.
Andy and Kim said the following about Jay:
We have a Facebook group which he has created to keep us updated, or regular emails. When one of our horses is racing, trialing or going to the workouts he will always let us know within 24 hours of the race including how he thinks it will go or what he expects. When they are not racing he regularly sends updates as to where they are at. He is also more than happy for us to text him, if we have any questions, happy to have us visit the stables and invites us to watch them workout if we are in the area (we live up north). He is always very welcoming at the races too, happy to chat and has arranged barrier rides and stable passes. He is a great example of what is great about Harness racing.
Allan Poy nominated Jay for the following reasons:
For the terrific communication he provides to his owners. We get the emails and Facebook updates that most trainers provide but he’ll also personally respond to texts and more latterly, which has been really cool, is his recording of track work including fast work with the use of a Go Pro on his helmet or sulky. He then goes to the trouble of putting together a video montage and either posts it on FB or emails it out. A great way to embrace the latest technology for his band of owners. His stables are always open for a visit as well. A young trainer staying up to date with communication tools.
